Applied Kinesiology- My Experience with this Energy Healing Technique
87
I was introduced to Applied Kinesiology by a chiropractor 3 ½ years ago. Truthfully, I thought the technique looked a little hokey at the time, but I went to this provider in desperation. By that point, I would have tried voodoo if someone would have given me a reference.
Applied Kinesiology, also called muscle testing is an energy healing technique. It is based on the principles of many traditional medicine disciplines, such as anatomy, biomechanics, neurology, biochemistry, and physiology. It also incorporates principles from Chinese Medicine such as acupuncture, and massage. This discipline was developed by a Detroit chiropractor, Dr. George G. Goodheart, in 1964. Applied Kinesiology muscle testing is used to identify imbalances in the body. Muscles are tested for strengths and weaknesses to detect disease and other problems.
Dr. Overman explains use of Applied Kinesiology Muscle Testing in Clinical Practice

Dr. Overman, a Naturopath, in the first video explains the basics of Applied Kinesiology Muscle Testing, and how he uses it to assess clients and determine supplement recommendations. Here is my summary, if you don’t want to watch the video:
Applied Kinesiology Muscle Testing is based on the premise that the brain knows everything about the body. In muscle testing, typically the client holds an arm out to the side and up. The examiner pushes down on the client’s arm while placing the other hand on the client’s body to assess organs or structures. If an organ is weak, or if the client or examiner says something that is not true, the brain weakens the arm muscles, and the examiner will push the client’s arm down easily.
The examiner may also push down on the client’s arm while touching various nutritional supplements. These herbal samples have an electromagnetic field around the supplement container. While the examiner is touching the client and the supplement container, if the client has a condition that the supplement will help, the brain strengthens the muscles, and the client’s arm strongly resists being pushed down by the examiner. The examiner uses this technique to determine which supplements, and how many the client should take.
Dr. Overman notes that muscle testing is not infallible, but still an excellent tool, better than thousands of dollars worth of medical tests. He also notes that muscle testing takes lots, and lots, and lots of practice.
The second video is a chiropractor in Austin, Texas demonstrating Applied Kinesiology muscle testing to assess a client.
So back to me. There I was in 2006, an Air Force Occupational Therapist, approaching my last few years before retirement, and afraid I would be medically separated without benefits. I’d had lots of free military medical care, and was prescribed over a dozen drugs and supplements, and felt terrible all the time. This is a long story, which I will write about in more depth eventually, under the tentative title, Thyroid Disease, The Third Time Western Medicine Failed Me. I’ll try to keep it brief here.
My thyroid condition had only been diagnosed 3 years prior, and I had been undertreated for the condition since. I had learned from Dr. Rind’s website that I most assuredly had adrenal fatigue, something that most MDs understood even more poorly than thyroid disease. I couldn’t get a doctor to recognize the severity of my thyroid disease, how in the world would I convince them I needed adrenal support?!
Without adrenal support, my thyroid function would never be what I needed it to be. Your thyroid will never convert more T4 to T3 than the amount of T3 your adrenals can handle. Your T3 is the thyroid indicator most related to how you feel, and how much energy you have. Yet most doctors only check the pituitary’s thyroid stimulating hormone, TSH.
So when I finally found my way to this chiropractor in September 2006, it was the best experience I’d had with a healthcare provider in years. Instead of the 3 familiar Ds: disdain, disbelief, and disrespect, I saw nodding. He performed Applied Kinesiology muscle testing on me to determine my needs, and additional Kinesiology testing to determine supplements. My new doctor used Standard Process whole food supplements, a well respected company for over 50 years. I left not only with desiccated thyroid and adrenal supplements, but additional organ support, and additional vitamin, mineral and herbal supplements. I had B12 and iron supplements, among other things. I stopped taking my Synthroid, “pharmacy iron”, and B12 shots. I figured it would take at least 3 or 4 weeks to notice any improvements, but felt better the second week! By December 2006, my thyroid levels, B12 and folate, and iron levels were the best they had ever been. Thanks Dr. David for giving me my life back!

Very good hub. I think it is great that you had this experience and it sounds like something to explore.
When I first witnessed applied kinesiology being used, I was totally amazed. Basically our body already subconsciously knows the problem and whats good or bad. Just ask and it will tell you if your body accepts or not. Incredible!
great info....like what i've read to another hub about kinesilogy
Very interesting hub.
